[1] Auction =  a public sale in which goods or property are sold to the highest bidder.

[2] To get right down to it =  when you consider something plainly, with all the facts, details, or aspects taken into account.

[3] To come across = to find by chance.

[4] Word of mouth =  when some information is shared by another person.

[5] To catch on = to become popular.

[6] Principles =   rules

[7] To be laid bare =  to be exposed.

[8] Phenomenal = Amazing.

[9] A lemon = something that doesn't work properly, usually a car.

[10] To be under the weather = to feel ill, indisposed, unwell.
