{3} Speaking: Question 3

THE THIRD QUESTION

Here’s how TOEFL speaking question three works:

You will read a short reading passage such as a piece of writing from a text book.

You will have 45 seconds to read it.

Next, you will hear a lecture. A professor will talk about the same topic, but what he or she says will be complementary to what you read.

After hearing the lecture, you will be asked to summarize what you have read and listened to.  You will have 30 seconds to prepare your answer, and 60 seconds to speak.

CONTENT AND LENGTH

The reading part is about 100 words long, and you are given 45 seconds to read it and take notes. The lecture will last from 3 to 4 minutes. You can also take notes.

THE QUESTION PROMPT

Whatever the question, what you must do is to summarize the most important points from the two sources, the reading passage and the listening passage.
